Attaining Financial Stability as a Barber

No matter where you're at in your barber grind, we all know it can be hit or miss with earnings. Client loyalty? Awesome, but it doesn't always guarantee they'll be back or how much we pocket each month. Wish there was a fix? Hang tight; we've got something for you!

So a few of us from Clipper Circle recently hit up Dubai. With more folks moving in and tourists dropping by, fades are getting big there, though there's room to step it up. But the local grooming game? Top-notch! We picked up a trick that could level up any barber's earnings.

Barbering in the Desert

In the Middle East, it seemed like every guy had this flawless beard game on. Sharp, freshly trimmed beards everywhere you look. No way it was just by chance! We dug a bit deeper and chatted with locals and their barbers. Turns out, locals visit the barber shop every 2-3 days simply to freshen up their beard. While this was surprising at first, very soon the penny dropped.

MRR - The Game Changer

We all have clients with very specific preferences, it could be their beard or maybe even a line-up. Why not create a recurring service at a discounted cost tailored for these clients. This could be a monthly subscription where you charge one discounted price and include a certain amount of hair cuts, line-ups and any other services you offer. This model is known in business as MRR (monthly recurring revenue) and we’ve listed out some of the benefits for you below.

Benefits of MRR for a barber?

  • Predictable Income: You have a clearer idea of your guaranteed earnings for the month. It can help in planning expenses and understanding how much more you need to earn to hit your targets.

  • Customer Loyalty: Subscribers are more likely to visit your barbershop since they've already paid. This means more regular customers and a consistent relationship.

  • Cash Flow: Knowing you have a certain amount of money coming in every month can ease stress and allow for better financial planning.

  • Focused Marketing: With a subscription model, you can now focus on getting more subscribers, offering deals for longer commitments, or even tailoring special packages.

  • Resource Management: If you know the number of subscribers and their appointments, you can manage your time and resources more efficiently, reducing wait times and ensuring you have the necessary products in stock.

By understanding MRR, you can shift from a purely transactional relationship with customers to a more predictable and steady revenue model, improving business stability and fostering customer loyalty. This is the future of consistent income and loyal clientele.

🚀 The Customer Code

Put down those clippers for a second and get ready to snip away at bad customer service in this week's 'Customer Code.'

First impressions:

We all know first impressions count. When someone new walks into your barbershop, those initial moments set the tone. So, shake their hand like you mean it, flash them a genuine smile, and greet them with a casual, "Hey, good to see you." It's the small things that often make clients feel right at home and keep them coming back.

Wrapping Up Their Visit:

Once the cut and conversation are over, don't rush them out. Walking them to the door might seem old school, but it's all about showing you care. A simple, "Thanks for coming in, hope to catch you again soon!" goes a long way. Your clients should not be made to feel like customers but rather an appreciated member of your 'barberhood’.
